Believe it or not, it was red paint that transformed this bedroom. Who knew it could be so calming?Plenty of people remodel their bedrooms last. Why? Because noone but you sees your bedroom. But hey, you count! So here's some bedroom inspiration to get you decorating.
After getting her whole home in gear, Dani Miller of KSC Designs was left with a super plain bedroom: A couple different woods, a practical ceiling fan, ho-hum bedding...it's the type of room that one has to struggle to come up with compliments. But oh, don't think it'll stay that way for long...
BEFORE: Let's count the way this bedroom misses out on opportunities: 1. Bare walls. 2. Standard blinds on the window. 3. Plain carpet. 4. No accessories. Should we stop? We're getting anxious and want you to see the reveal!
AFTER: A bold accent wall -- like the red one above -- will give any room an instant jolt of life. Dual nightstands make the bed a more welcoming place (remember: No one should have one nightstand!) and dramatic sconces add height. Paddles above the bed bring in a fun, personal element and new bedding brightens up the space and fits right in with the rouge color palette. And notice how even though the bedding is fresh and bright, the patchwork feels a little bit country comfy and complements the paddles.
BEFORE: Simple but stark -- another blank wall surrounded the dresser, making it look out of place. The vase and flowers are a nice touch but it feels almost hotel-like since there's nothing else around.
AFTER: It's amazing what a cluster of family photos in various frames can do! Instead of just hanging one piece in the center of the dresser, the owners chose brought in a collage-style display, which helps anchor the dresser. They painted a neutral tan/taupe on the other three walls -- warmed than the original white but not as dramatic as the red accent wall! And take note of the chair and mirror -- These two simple additions help expand the function of the room. Wouldn't you love to perch on that chair with a coffee?
