Tile surfaces are commonly used in bathrooms and kitchens for most of us. The best way to make sure they retain their glaze is to regularly scrub, sweep, or vacuum a tiled surfaces, whether it's a backsplash or the floors, and get into the habit of washing them down every week. However, since bathroom and kitchen surfaces are exposed to water, soaps, body oils, and grease, they're high-traffic areas in the home that are prone to quick mildew and soap scum buildup. An easy solution is a 50-50 mix of white vinegar and water. Scrub the tiles down with a sponge or do a thorough sweep using the solution. The mildew and lime deposits (and even rusts) will come right off and the tiles will keep their shine.
